Small Office Survival: Five Creative Storage Ideas (under $100 each)

Lucky for you, business is growing. Unfortunately, your office space isn’t. At least not yet.  The ability to maximize small office spaces so that they remain functional, aesthetically pleasing, and free of clutter isn’t as difficult as it may seem. Here are five creative (and affordable) storage ideas ideal for small offices:

1. Re-invent the wheel.  Adding wheels to almost anything adds freedom.  For example, we found this stack chair holder for $89. Instead of stacking extra chairs in the corner of a conference room, reception area, or even closet, the rolling chair holder allows you to move the chairs to whichever room is not being used whenever you want.

2. Mount, don’t stack.  Instead of a bulky filing cabinet which needs twice its actual space so that the drawers can be pulled out and files retrieved, try a stacking magazine rack.  It utilizes wall space instead of floor space and holds just as many files as a small filing cabinet.

3.  Corner the space.  Corner shelves take up little room and turn unused corners in small offices into additional places to put decorative plants, frequently used reference guides or even wicker baskets that hide desk accessories, digital cameras, or extra supplies.

4.  Dry erase instead of paper waste. Keep current notes and schedules on a dry erase board instead of printing papers and letting them stack up. Paper waste makes up most of the clutter in offices.

5.  Multi-task with Multi-functioning organizers.  Why buy several different desk accessories when one will do the trick?  Finding a desk organizer that holds paper, pens, staples, and much more keeps everything in one place and creates more space on your desktop.
