Production Manager - Job #4005

Primary Department Duties:
The production manager is responsible for production planning, scheduling, receiving, building, stocking and shipment of products. The position will manage and coordinate personnel to achieve quality, cost, productivity, utilization, and safety goals in all areas of production. The position is also responsible for expense and inventory control in the product departments.

Responsibilities:
  • Continuously improve cost, quality, safety, and productivity
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes improvements (lean manufacturing techniques)
  • Motivate and develop production department employees zero defects
  • Manage production planning processes with the goal of achieving a zero backorder status
  • Monitor product sales and forecast so that the production planning and response is timely.
  • Resolve production stoppages and delays so that customer service levels are not compromised.
  • Reengineer processes to establish better/consistent controls for quality, cost, and product performance.
  • Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment and effectiveness of current production processes/procedures.
  • Designs and conducts experimentation necessary for process improvement as a result of problem analysis.
  • Documents process control procedures and experimental results.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with regard to continuous workflow, staffing and equipment
  • Ensure client requirements are met per contract requirements
  • Implement process improvements and client change requests
  • Determine staff productivity
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 Years experience in the management of product assembly production. One year of related clerical, document conversion and/or production control experience.
  • Bachelors degree or higher preferred.
  • Ability to delegate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while providing consistent and dependable results.
  • Must be a self-starter and must have the ability to organize, schedule, and plan daily activities.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and safety requirements in the California work environment.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of: business process improvement, process mapping, process to procedure scripting, and ability to train others with diverse backgrounds and education levels.
  • Proven track record implementing time-based improvement methods.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week, which may include evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to recognize, reward and promote positive performance.
  • Ability to effectively administer the Performance Management/Goal Setting process and provide feedback related to training and development opportunities.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, prioritizing, time management, and delegation skills.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee may have to lift and/or move up to 40 lb.
