Versa Products, Inc. Releases New Laptop Cart to Meet OSHA Guidelines

Hawthorne, California.  December 2005. — Versa Products, Inc. a leading California-based manufacturer of computer furniture announced Monday that January 1, 2006 would mark the release of a newly designed laptop cart that will exceed OSHA Guidelines for posture-based ergonomics.
“It’s important to us that we keep up with the most current ergonomic standards provided by OSHA and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health,” said Chris Stormer, VP of Marketing at Versa.  “Our attention to the user’s comfort and diligence in making sure our products are designed to reduce MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders) from hours spent in front of a computer, is why our customers continue to come back to us again and again.”

OSHA Guidelines regarding the ergonomics of computer use suggest that awkward postures and prolonged repetitive motion are both key factors in the onset of MSDs.
Awkward postures in an office or classroom environment include work in which the neck is bent for extended periods of time, and sustained twisting of the neck, wrists, hips, or shoulders.  All are common for office workers who are not sitting at ergonomically-correct computer workstations.
Prolonged repetitive motion refers to continuous keying or manipulating objects such as a computer mouse.
Workstations, to be in compliance with OSHA Guidelines, and to meet ergonomic standards, should be height-adjustable (including keyboard, desktop, and monitor heights) and be positioned in a way that the user may view the monitor without turning or twisting his/her body in an unnatural, and therefore stressing, position.

Versa Products, Inc. has always prided itself on exceeding the most current ergonomic standards in the design of classroom furniture, office desks and tables, medical furnishings, and computer workstations.
Most recently, the company just re-released its line of Laptop carts with minor upgrades to again surpass OSHA Guidelines.  “The idea for the laptop cart in and of itself came from the desire to create something more ergonomically correct for laptop users,” Stormer explained.  “Because laptops can be used anywhere, it is natural that people tend to use them when they’re not at their desk.  I cringe every time I see someone hunched over a laptop trying to work.  I knew we had to do something.”
The laptop carts Versa offers are compact, mobile, but most of all, ergonomically superior to many computer desks offered by popular manufacturers.  “A person shouldn’t have to suffer because she/he prefers to use a laptop over a PC,” Stormer claims.
Height-adjustable work surfaces and tilting desktops are just a few of the features that make Versa Products’ laptop carts ideal for users who are vested in keeping their health and comfort a priority.
