Once you have the perfect desk for your own specific needs and a good quality ergonomic chair you are ready to set up your office.
Now is the time to think about how you will manage all the wires and cables required by your computer and peripherals. To store these wires and cables safely and prevent damage it is recommended that you use a wire, or cable management system.
Route your wires and cables together and attach them securely to your desk. This not only protects your cables, but it makes your desk look much neater too.

Previously I wrote about how to make sure you get the desk that’s perfect for your needs. Now we need to think about the chair you will be sitting in when you work, or play at that desk. You don’t want to spend hours sitting in an uncomfortable chair.
Just as with your desk do not take short cuts when it comes to your chair. Get a high quality chair that is comfortable and height adjustable, or ergonomic, so you can enjoy your time at that desk more. Having a good ergonomic chair will also help you to avoid a painful neck and back.
The perfect chair for you is the one that you can adjust to just the right height to give you easy access to your desktop and keyboard.

The best way to make sure you end up with a desk that is right for you is to follow these steps.
To begin with, ask yourself, where will the desk be placed? Will it be in an office, classroom, lab, or in a room in your home?
What will be the primary purpose for the desk? Usually, but not always, a desk is needed to house and protect a computer system.
What types of peripherals will you be using? Sit down and make a list so you can know how much space and shelving, racks, etc you will need.
When you complete these steps you now have valuable information to help you avoid getting a computer desk that’s not for you.

The last time I wrote about the importance of obtaining the right computer desk. The problem is that each person’s needs are different than the next. Before you make the decision on which desk to get make sure you understand what your specific needs are.
Make a list of all the peripherals you will be using. Don’t forget to consider peripherals that you plan to add later. Will you be needing to store or display books, CDs or other materials on your desk?
You can avoid getting the wrong desk simply by planning and understanding exactly what you need before you start. If you cannot find the right desk for you have us custom design and build one that’s perfect for you.

There are still many schools that use old fashion desks and furniture that was designed and built before the widespread use of computers in the classroom. If you are teaching in a classroom like this you know what I mean. It can be very difficult to arrange enough space for the monitors, keyboards, mice, and any peripherals you use.
Upgrade your classroom with high quality classroom furniture specifically designed to integrate your computer systems with the students’ work space.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, or Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), is a painful condition that is caused by persistent, repetitive motions.
If you spend a lot of time working at a keyboard you run the risk of being affected by RSI. To avoid this condition it is important that you use an ergonomically designed keyboard along with a keyboard tray. It is also very helpful to have an adjustable ergonomic chair so that you can optimize the angle at which your arms and wrists are oriented to the keyboard while you type.
Another great idea is to take rest breaks from the keyboard. Do something else with your hands to offset the repetitive motions of hitting those keys.

Laptop computer users often have a difficult time using their laptop on their desk. There never seems to be enough room, so you have to rearrange things to make a place for the laptop. A laptop computer drawer solves this problem by providing a specialized place for your laptop.
A laptop drawer is attached to the desk in the same way as a keyboard tray. When not in use the laptop computer can be closed and the drawer slid in. This provides security and protection for your laptop as well as making it much more easy to use.

Ergonomic furniture and accessories are designed to reduce stress and make your tasks easier to perform. An ergonomic chair, for example, is height adjustable. This allows the user to set the height of the chair in the appropriate level with the work space. This, in turn, greatly reduces the risk of neck and back sprain
There are many reasons why you shouldn’t consider a chair that is not ergonomically designed. Your chair should not be a “one size fits all”, but height adjustable so it’s your perfect seat.

If you spend a lot of time sitting at your desk working on a computer you should have the right kind of furniture. This includes a good quality desk with an extendable keyboard tray and a comfortable ergonomic chair. Experts agree that sitting improperly can contribute to back and spine problems.
You may have a top of the line computer system, but if you don’t have a comfortable chair to sit in and an easy to reach keyboard you run the risk of ruining your health. While it is important to have a good computer system do not neglect to make a sound investment in your office furniture for your health and well being.
