With a monitor just sitting on your desk top, about the only adjustments that you can make is a slight change in the tilt. Monitors that are placed on the desk top can cause strain to the muscles and eyes.

To be ergonomically correct, the top of your monitor should be sitting 2-3″ above eye level. It should produce no glare, you should be an arms length away from it and your monitor and keyboard should line up directly in front of you.
