How to Use a Cable Management Kit

What is a cable management kit? A cable management kit, also known as a wire management kit, is a system that can be installed to any computer desk to bind cords and cables together and reduce the “mess” of wires that lead to your surge protector. These wires, especially in computer desks without modesty panels, are an eye sore. They can also be easily pulled out of the outlet or the back of the computer, risking damage of expensive equipment or creating a trip hazard.
Cable management kits consists of two components: (1) a device to secure cables together, and (2) a method of adhering the secured cables to the desk itself, limiting their ability to be pulled away.
The device that secures the cables can be a tube, tie, or clip. You should “bind” your cables together as neatly as possible– without loops of excess wire. Then, once cables are neatly pulled together, adhere them to the back of the desk where they cannot be seen with the adhesive mounts or screw plates.
