Custom Classroom Furniture - A Wise Investment
Posted on Thursday 19 January 2006
Custom classroom furniture can be a wise investment for institutions that serve populations with special needs or has limited space. While there are many options for schools and universities in terms of multi-user computer workstations, classroom tables, and desks, there are times when the ideal piece of furniture doesn’t exist. Perhaps you need a three-person computer workstation that can hold one CPU, but three LCD monitors on rotating arms. Maybe you need a moveable desk with locking casters and extra shelves to support more than one printer. Perhaps you need interlocking tables with recessed keyboard trays. Instead of “making do” with the standard furniture that’s already on the market, and tailoring your lessons and number of students to the furniture you have, design your own furniture to meet your needs and let your creativity flow.
Custom classroom furniture is, upfront, more expensive than standard furniture. But for many, the advantage gained by having pieces that are more functional, able to accommodate the needs of every student and teacher, and can be utilized in multiple ways, far outweighs the additional expense. If you’re going to spend the money on furniture, you might as well buy pieces that are exactly what you want, right? Buyers who customize their furniture are generally more satisfied in the long run than those who elect not to. You can customize computer desks and multi-function workstations by adding casters, additional platforms, additional keyboard trays, wire management systems, speaker and printer shelves, tilting surfaces, height adjustment frames; or by upgrading keyboard arms, CPU holders, and monitor mounts; or by choosing different frame colors and wood finishes.
