How to Buy a LAN Server Rack
Posted on Thursday 19 January 2006
Buying a LAN Server Rack may take care of all of your computer storage needs, but how do you decide which one is right for you? Here are some things you should consider before making a purchase:
1. Your Equipment
How much equipment do you want the server rack to support? Because they are ideal for securing heavy, bulky CPUs and monitors, sometimes one rack is all you will need. However, if you need to, at times, operate computers in different locations, you should consider purchasing two smaller LAN racks instead of one large one.
2. Your Storage Space
Even if a large LAN server rack can support all of your equipment, and you never need to separate computers or monitors, a large rack may not fit in any closet or storage facility you have. This makes securing expensive equipment problematic. In this case, buying two or more LAN servers is wise because they can both be stored in a smaller, more compact space.
3. Cable Management
Because a LAN Server Rack is designed to be mobile, wires and plugs should be secured so that they are not hanging freely or dragged across the floor when the rack is in transition. If the Lan Rack you purchase does not come equipped with a cable management system, consider purchasing one or more per rack. Wire management kits are inexpensive and they provide a great deal of convenience and protection for your equipment.
LAN racks are wonderful alternatives to computer carts and are currently used in many different types of businesses.
